Tour Overview

For some people the wolf is still today a scary pest and a burden. To others the wolf is the symbol of a healthy wilderness and an exotic part of a steadily decreasing biological diversity.

Rena is situated in the middle of the Norwegian “wolf area”. Just outside our doors we find the animals in their right element. Participating in our wolf tracking you will be able to enter the territory of a wolf pack, and learn about the predators in their environment and in a total natural context.

Itinerary

Wolf Tracking Program

We go by car from Rena and we enter the territory of the wolfs about 10 minutes later. Somewhere in the wolf territory your guide has found fresh tracks to follow. From there you will be taken on a journey into the world of the Scandinavian wolfs. You will be walking with snow shoes and we will carry what we need for the day on your back. At lunch time we collect firewood and eat lunch around a nice warm fire.

We never know what kind of tracks and signs we find on trips like this. Your guide has not followed the tracks longer then what is necessary to confirm that they are set by a wolf and not a dog or a lynx. Therefore every trip is a new adventure into the unknown.

Everything we find will always be documented and later reported to the researchers at the University of Hedmark and then to the Scandinavian wolf project. That way, by doing this trip, you also give a valuable contribution to the population survey and the research on the Scandinavian wolfs.

The trip can also include a night out in wolf territory for people who seek that extra special wild experience.

Nature & Kind Factor

Our Trusted Partner's Responsible and Sustainable Travel Policy

Turgleder is a certified Norwegian ecotourism enterprise.

For us it is important to use the environment on it's own terms. We wish to leave as few traces as possible and as far as possible avoid wearing on the environment we enjoy. When we are not hunting or fishing we wish to disturb animals as little as possible and we ALWAYS avoid disturbing nesting and breeding areas.

We established Turgleder’s environment fund in 2005 as part of establishing the nature based tourism enterprise Turgleder DA.

The purpose of the fund is to contribute to conservation of local environment and historical cultural values (and traditions), primarily in the areas affected by Turgleders activities. The purpose is also to contribute to increased knowledge about Norwegian nature and about Norwegian and Sami culture and history. The fund will also contribute to other good local environmental projects.

You can read more about Turgleder's environment fund on our web site www.turgleder.com

About our Trusted Partner

Turgleder was established in 2005 with the motivation of making a hobby, passion and life style into a way of living. We wanted to spend our time outdoors and at the same time be able to share our fantastic experiences with other people.

To day we are a certified Norwegian eco tourism enterprise with a team of 4 people and activities in all seasons. We also hire other guides when necessary.

We provide active wilderness experiences from the deep dense forests of the south to the wide snow covered plains of the arctic north. All our activities and adventures are recognised by high quality and a sustainable, ecological use of the environment.

Our range of products is based on active participation from our guests, safety and Norwegian outdoor traditions and include activities like courses, hiking, fishing, skiing, and snow shoeing.

In addition to the adventures detailed on our website, we design and organise exclusive adventure holidays to meet the specifications of individual travellers and small groups.
Turgleder offers packages for travellers considering doing something “wild and challenging” or something different and relaxing. We offer the ultimate solution based on the competence and wide experience of our guides. The guests will be taken care of in an eco friendly, safe and comfortable way.

We primarily cater for smaller groups. A small group leaves fewer traces and as a participant in a small group you will have a higher feeling of quietness and closeness to nature. In a small group you will get personal attention from your guide and at the same time you get the opportunity to meet other likeminded people whom you can share your experiences with.
