Tour Overview
Rajasthan - Land of the Kings - is steeped in romantic history, chivalry and valor. Formerly known as Rajputana, it boasts of the finest fortress-palaces, built with sandstone quarried from the land itself. In contrast with the pastel shades of the desert landscape are the brightly coloured costumes of its handsome people. With its turbaned men and richly jeweled women, its havelies and villages, its fairs and festivals, Rajasthan beckons you. In Rajasthan especially, India’s Raja’s and Maharajahs of the past have turned their mansions, palaces & fortresses in cities, hotch potch bazaars, countryside and forests into hotels. Pushkar Horse & Jeep Safari tour incorporates one of these atmospheric locations – The Roop Niwas Kothi in Nawalgarh.
Pushkar Horse & Jeep Safari unfolds a land steeped in history, religion, culture and architecture. The route will be through picturesque villages and farms. The safari will move about 25 to 45 Kms a day with a lunch halt and breaks for tea, coffee and refreshments. The horses will be of Marwari breed, which are capable of trotting and cantering. These horses can travel upto 60 kms a day at trot or slow canter. The Jeeps are modified version of World War II design American Willy Jeep. On a horse & four wheel Jeeps you will be able to visit small villages and interact with the many colourful people of this region. Accommodation will be in tented camps. The Camp sites will be chosen on such spots that it will give the diversity in the tour. A Barber who also gives massages will be travelling with the safari. The Campfire will be the focal point every evening - cocktails and rhythms of the Thar-music. LocationContinent or Region: Indian SubcontinentCountry or State/County: IndiaDelhi: Seat of Kings Delhi, Capital City of independent India is the gateway to India. It is dynamic and cosmopolitan blends of internationalism and tradition, from top-notch cuisine and fine museums and art galleries of New Delhi to the bustling twisting alleyways of Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk bazaar. Seven cities have existed here since the 10th century, ruled over by Rajputs, Turks, Afghans, Mughals and the British. Delhi is two cities in one - the Old Delhi of the Mughals, created by Shah Jahan and still a conglomerate of medieval palaces, forts, mosques and bazaars; and the New Delhi built by the British, an elegant metropolis of broad avenues, stately homes and landscaped gardens. The coexistence of the old and the new, a common feature of modern Indian cities, is nowhere more obvious than in Delhi. Delhi is the seat of government, and what a visitor sees here is a reflection of what is happening in the country as a whole. There is much to do in Delhi. To begin with, Delhi - both Old and New - is a shopper’s paradise. India’s innumerable crafts and silks are all available here at various state emporia, Central Cottage Industries and in privately owned shops. Nawalgarh Nawalgarh in the Shekhawati region in Rajasthan's districts of Jhunjhunu & Sikar, known for the painting houses or " Havelis " of its wealthy merchant class, the Marwaris. This region could be called the open-air art gallery of Rajasthan. The drive to Shekhawati is through picturesque village and farms. Founded in 1737 AD. by Thakur Nawal Singh, a warrior statesman, whose name is enshrined in history and folklore. The town exudes an old world charm and the colourful bazaar has the largest number of painted Havelis in Shekhawati. Pushkar Pushkar is famous for typical Pink Indian roses that have a strong aroma. You arrive in Holy village of Pushkar by Late afternoon Pushkar has smooth spread of white-domed houses and temples reflected in a tranquil lake. Activities
