Explore the beauty and culture of Thailand's mountainous north on this three-day trek into the jungles surrounding Chiang Mai. You'll head off the beaten path, a rewarding experience that will allow you to get in touch with the people and natural wonders of the region.
This region of Thailand has long been known for its fantastic trekking. The chance to interact with the local hilltribes of the area enhances the experience. Along the way you will stay in different villages, learning about the tribe's traditional culture and way of life. Your adventure begins with a visit to a colorful market and picture-perfect waterfalls, topped off with a tasty picnic lunch. Continue along winding roads through the hills to the Huay Nam Dung National Park to Shan Mae Sae village, where the trek begins. Head through the wilderness brings you to the village of Baan Mae Jok. Here you'll discover the unique way of life of the Karen, one of the largest hill tribes of Southeast Asia. After a full day of cultural and natural exploration, enjoy an authentic jungle dinner and stay overnight in the village for a truly unique experience. The following morning, awake to cool mountain breezes and set off under the tropical canopy of shade towards a Karen elephant camp. The Karen people live harmoniously with the native elephants, and a ride through the jungle on the back of these magnificent animals is an unforgettable experience. A tough day of trekking in Huai Nam Dang National Park is rewarded with the spectacular scenery. Enjoy lunch beside a cascading waterfall before reaching a Lahu village, where the welcoming locals host your evening homestay. Your last day of adventure starts with a lazy trip down the Taeng River aboard a traditional bamboo raft. Along the way, stop off to visit several hill tribe villages before returning to Chiang Mai in the late afternoon. Day 2 | Mae Jok - Pa Khaolam Watch the cool breeze sweep away the morning mist as you enjoy breakfast before resuming your walk toward an elephant camp. Relax and enjoy a picnic lunch at the camp as your elephant is prepared for your journey, which will be led by skilled Karan mahouts. Climb on to your elephant's back and traverse deep into the dense jungle toward the Karen village of Baan Pa Khaolam.

Day 3 | Pa Khaolam - Pong Ngan Today's trek is the most ambitious, but also the most spectacular. The Huai Nam Dang National Park is filled with virginal forests, wildlife, and several streams. Trek through this pristine wildernesss stopping for a picnic at the waterfalls before reaching Pong Ngan, a Lahu village, for a unique homestay experience.

Day 4 | Pong Ngan - Sop Kai - Chiang Mai After a lazy breakfast, you'll journey on a bamboo raft along the Taeng River to the Shan village of Sop Kai, passing other hill tribe villages along the way. Enjoy a local lunch in Sop Kai before heading back to Chiang Mai in the afternoon, bringing your trekking adventure to a close.
