Tour Overview
Experienced riders and students come back Che Shale kiting spot year after year to enjoy a very wide range of kiting conditions. According to the tides you have a daily choice, from waves to glassy flat water in a safe bay.
With an average of 300 days of wind per year, with an average of 16 knots, with peaks of 18 to 25 knots, the best months for kiting at Che Shale are July through September and January through May.
Our Kite School is well stocked with all the equipment you will need for your course. We use a combination of C kites and bow kites and you will be kited out from head to toe with kite, board, harness, helmet and life vests.
We normally have 3 to 6 instructors. When you learn how to kitesurf, safety (and then fun) is your top priority. Our instructors have been with us for several years and they have taught this incredibly addictive sport in total safety here at Che Shale.
And don’t forget our Kite Lounge…the perfect after-kiting spot to chill out on big cushions, while sipping a cold drink and recounting the incredible fun you had kiting today!
Che Shale Kitesurfing is located on the Kenyan coast, we are right on the beach and we are the only hotel located on our beautiful 5 km bay.
We are a two-hour drive from Mombasa and a twenty-minute drive from Malindi. You no longer need a 4x4 vehicle to get to Che Shale as the road has been laid out with coconut husks.
If you fly into Mombasa, we are a 2.5-hour drive and if you fly into Malindi, we are 30 minutes away.
Our kitesurf spot is well-known and kitesurfers from around the word come to enjoy top conditions, uncrowded water and good company.
Itinerary
Fun Kite
Taster lesson for beginners and for kids. This lasts 1 hour and costs €25.
Step 1
In this stage, you will work on kite control, with this lesson being on land. This lasts 2.5 hours and costs €120.
Step 2
This step teaches you how to control your kite in water. This lasts 2.5 hours and costs €120.
Step 3
This step introduces and teaches you how to use the board. This lasts 2.5 hours and costs €120.
Support
Learn to kite without assistance. This isfor kiters who have completed through Step 3 but still require some support to become independent and confident. This costs €45 per hour.
Advanced
Here you will learn how to perform jumps, rotations, toeside, grabs, raileys and more. This costs €45 per hour.
