This makes it an extremely unique and tranquil place. The Hacienda de San Antonio is an inland destination in the Mexican Republic, approximately two hours from the east coast of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. It is locates on a 5000 acres property and it offers the opportunity to experience the real Mexico.

With advance notice we can arrange your flights by private charter from Guadalajara, Colima, Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta. Also, ground transfers are availabe from any airport nearby.

Weather
From October to the end of July is the dry season in this part of México. From late July to October is our rainy season or “Green Season”. The rains bring out the lively green tones in the vegetation. Thunderstorms are also a spectacular show during the evenings normally, but this does not take away our sunny days since it normally rains late in the evenings. Our daily average temperature ranges from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day and nightly average temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius during the summer and 10 to 12 degrees during the winter months.

Dining

The ranch has different farm animlas like cows, pigs, chickens, ducks and even a family of llamas. The products that the ranch produces are 100% organic. A vast variety of fruits and vegetables are produced and then send to the Hacienda’s kitcken. The Hacienda also consums a variety of cheeses and yoghurt elevorated at the ranch.

The rides start normaly from the Stables to then continue to the lakes and admire the incredible views of the Volcan de Fuego and mountains. Picnics can also be arrange at the end of the ride.

The Coffee Roasting process is done regularly throughout the year and our guests are invited to see the process and to enjoy a warm cup of coffee while our expert answers all their questions. During harvest season, from December to April, the complete process can be observed, from the harvest to the roasting. The ranch’s coffee is served exclusively at the Hacienda.

Nature & Kind Factor

Hacienda de San Antonio is a historical hacienda which lies on a 470 acre expanse within a 5000 acre working ranch, organic farm and organic coffee plantation.
The Hacienda de San Antonio and its Ranch “El Jabali” carry out various practices and involve in local initiatives to protect the environment and support the local communities by:

- Encouraging self-sustaining systems using local and renewable resources and diminishing or eliminating the use of non-renewable resources.
- Encouraging and innovating sustainable practices in our organic agriculture, horticulture, orchards and coffee plantation.
- Encouraging and innovating sustainable practices of free range livestock, chickens, pigs, goats.
- For the past 30 years have made a positive impact and input in the local economy, since the restoration of the Hacienda and the ranch began.
- Encouraging appropriate and sustainable use of the local environment and with the local government have protected the local wildlife through programs and the banning of hunting.

These practices are supported by:

- Preserving the local watershed and the natural fresh water springs utilizing the water supply from our local spring. Our fresh water system is supplied by a gravity-fed system with no electrical pumps, and with the use of an aqueduct dating back to 1904.
- The installation of solar power to heat water for the pool, suites and kitchen, project to be completed by the end of 2009
- Continued work on expanding our nursery with local plants, and also shade grown trees. Annual reforestation of approximately 800 planted trees.
-Continued work on expanding our nursery of organic coffee plants, and planting over 10,000 coffee plants every year.
- 85 % of our staff and workers are from the local villages. This is a way to support the local community, where unemployment and poverty is high. Most employees live within 1-10 kms from the Hacienda, and thus provide a more genuine experience to our guests of the traditions of this part of Mexico, including the local festivities, like the Day of Saint Anthony, June 13th.
- The separation and recycling of plastics, glass, and paper.
- And also the recycling of fruits, vegetables, etc., for our compost to then use in our orchards, and gardens.
- The use of recyclable crystal bottles for organic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bath oil, and body lotion, instead of packaged plastic containers
- The use of energy-efficient lighting.
- The installation of a professionally designed and large-capacity grey-water waste treatment facility.
- Encouraging our guests to favor low-impact activities within our property, by visiting out ranch, hikes in the wilderness and volcano area, the lagoons, by foot, horse our mountain bike.
- The incorporation of architectural design utilizing high ceilings, cross-ventilation, and floor fans for cooling the suites in the summer and chimneys in the winter. And not using any mechanical systems such as air conditioning.
- Utilizing natural light in guest and public areas whenever possible so that electric lights are not required except at night. And at night the use of low voltage lights, candles and torches.
- Offering guests our locally-grown products.
- Offering our guests our season organic and sustainable fruits, vegetable & herbs, as well as our organic dairy, chicken, beef and pork produce.
- The use of a small new bus for the transportation of employees.
- Regular maintenance of hotel vehicles for both staff and guests.
- Supporting other local businesses by purchasing from them vs large supermarkets.
- The minimal use of paper products for office & marketing efforts--reliance on the web site, DVD’s, and the recycling of office paper.
- Encouraging and contributing to the development and maintenance of the local community infrastructure, schools, housing, roads.
- Encouraging and contributing to the cleaning of the main road with the help of all our employees.
- Involving our guests to be informed about the local environment, and the work of our sister property’s “Cuixmala Ecological Foundation” and the Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve the first reserve of its kind in Mexico.
