With an overall feeling of light and space and decorated in impeccable take that perfectly reflects its location, the apartment has great views of the surfers bobbing on the sea right in front of the building and of the beach which, almost uniquely in Rio, is uninterrupted as the apartment is located in a building on the beachside of the main road that runs along the length of Ipanema and Copacabana.This also cancels any traffic noise that other apartments can be subject to.

There is a entrance to the building from the beach and right the is one of the only beachfront restaurants in this part of Rio with tables outside. The apartment is on the 5th floor of a portered building with lift access which arrives at semi-private entrance hall, covered in mosaic tiles and decorated with a mural of a festive scene, as if standing in a marquee with a view of sea and beach.

There are just two apartments per floor.The hall opens onto a large open plan sitting room with white marble floors and white walls which coupled with the long panoramic window which runs the length of the sitting room and high ceilings makes for a wonderfully bright space, totally in keeping with its beachfront position. The owner has gathered a vibrant collection of contemporary Brazilian art and photography which is both fun and entirely suits the environment which is predominantly blue and white. The 18m long windows – or rather the view from them – are the eye is most drawn to and let’s in now just the wonderful light, the view of the beach, surfers and islands, but also the sound and tang of the ocean.

A square glass dinning table with 8 seats sits at the centre of the room while oversize 3- seater sofa, 2 armchairs and a chaise-longue take up one side of the room where there is also a plasma screen TV (with cable channels), a DVD an CD player and a leather topped writing table that faces the view. At the other end of the sitting room is another large sofa that can be turned into a third bedroom when required by extending a sliding wall and another chaise-longue.

A fully equipped kitchen covered in original white ceramic tables is accessed off the sitting room (there is a maids rooms here too) with meals and drinks served through a hatch straight into the room.The two bedrooms, two bathroom and guest bathroom are all off a corridor leading away from the sitting room and both bedrooms have great sea views. All social areas and both bedrooms are are air-conditioned. The house works equally well for groups of friends or children and is available from rentals of up to two 3 months.

Climate and When to Go

Best months are from March to October where there is less rain, although the peak season is still Dec/Jan/Feb, the summer, when it is both hotter and wetter. Both Reveillon (New Year) and at carnival prices increase in line with massive demand.

Getting There

The apartment is a short drive away from both the Rio domestic airport, Santos Dumont, and the international airport (approx. 45 minutes) which has daily flights from both Europe and the States as well as most Brazil regional airports.

Daily maid service (8am – 5pm). English speaking concierge on day of arrival for up to 4 hours. Additionally babysitters and additional maids / barman / evening cover may be provided for extra cost and paid for locally. We have excellent local guides based in Rio for those who wish to explore the city, especially recommended for first time.
