Overview
Jungle Mantra is a friendly eco lodge offering a unique conservation and wildlife experience. Amongst the very best luxury safari camps, the ambience is relaxed and informal, without being stuffy.
The owners, Shailin and Rhea Ramji, who moved to India from the UK, are both passionate about wildlife and conservation issues. Guests can be treated to some of Shailin’s spectacular wildlife photography and Rhea’s sublime cooking.
The local tribal staff is trained in Delhi and what they might lack in English they more than make up for in warmth in service and welcome.
Their English speaking naturalists are the best in the business and are regularly used by professional photographers, including the National Geographic and BBC film teams
Delicious continental lunches and 5 course dinners. Junglemantra is the only resort in Bandhavgarh at present operating an in-house bakery. Oven fresh croissants, Danish, sausage rolls, muffins, fresh breads and more for breakfasts. Rolls, pastries, cakes, pies, desserts, cookies etc are all freshly prepared by our Delhi trained chefs, using organic ingredients from our kitchen garden.

Activities
A veritable jewel in the wilderness. True Kipling country where the drama of The Jungle Book unfolds itself amongst leaves of gold. Set in enchanting forest, Bandhavgarh is a land of striking beauty.
From the ancient hills and meadows to the dense valley floor, from the bright shafts of sunlight in the forest glade to the gentle murmer of the river stream, one is intoxicated by the splendour of God's creation. Bandhavgarh has 32 hills. From the dense jungle below, the greatest of these hills rises some 800 metres to form a towering cliff which is crowned by the Bandhavgarh Fort, believed to be some 2000 years old.
Numerous caves and shrines bearing ancient Sanskrit inscriptions and also drawings by prehistoric man are to be found around the fort and at various sites within the park.
The human impact on the site has been kept to a minimum. This makes Junglemantra’s lake and grounds a haven for mammals (such as tiger, leopard, bear, wolf, jackals, sambar, cheetal, barking deer, wild boar, langurs, foxes, rabbits, hare, mongoose), reptiles (such as chameleons, monitor lizards) and the over 300 species of birds found in Bandhavgarh , (such as Paradise flycatcher, serpent eagle, fishing owl, 3 varieties of Kingfisher, Indian Roller, 4 varieties of Parakeet, Black Ibis, Wolly necked stork etc are resident).
A checklist of birds complied by guests and staff at Junglemantra boasts over 95 species of woodland, wetland and garden varieties of birds.

Thank you for a warm welcome to a beautiful spot. From the moment we arrived, despite the heat, nothing has been too much trouble for you or your staff and all our requests have been met or answered promptly and efficiently.
It is early days yet for Junglemantra, but you both share a vision of what you want to create and are clearly very good at turning that vision into reality. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and very tastefully furnished. The food is delicious, varied and often innovative. The service is efficient and courteous.
But most of all, Junglemantra is a special place to stay because of the couple who own and run it. You have shown us great warmth and hospitality and shared our jungle experiences with us with enthusiasm, so that we have felt like your house guests rather than patrons of a hotel.

Junglemantra has been a wonderful, INCREDIBLE and unique experience. Our hosts and their staff have taken care of our every need. They truly make the comfort of their gusts their first priority. Three days was far too short. We feel as though we've spent some very special time with wonderful friends!
Thank you everyone -- we hope to return soon.

We ate wonderfully. Slept brilliantly and saw some of India's legendary tigers in their superb natural setting. What more could you ask for? Jungle Mantra has it all.

"Alastair Sawday’s Special Places To Stay India & Sri Lanka, Edition 3 2009," review: Ed. K. Locke
Without the owners – a young couple, passionate about the environment and wildlife – this place would be special. With them, it’s a privilege to stay. Between the core forest and the buffer zones of the Bandhavgarh National Park, among acres of grasses and trees – mahua, banyan, peepal, ebony – is a magical setting, close to the elements and the animals. The breads, biscuits and croissants are famously good and Rhea’s dinners are full Indian banquets, served by smiling tribal staff (not fluent in English). The game drives are sublime. Track leopards and tigers on elephant back, return to great terraces and verandas, a big fire and sofas, exploration guides and ice-cold mocktails. Trekkers and sybarites, honeymooners and young families – all will feel at home here, such is the welcome.
Rooms & Accommodation
Luxury Bamboo Cottage
Luxury Bamboo Cottage
Independent, luxurious, charming, rustic rooms, quietly blending in with the surrounding woodland. The cottages are spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished, yet retain the style and simplicity of a true safari camp.
Bamboo and log construction provides the best advantages of tented accommodation while keeping the comfort , warmth and security of more conventional brick structures, so that one is fully able to experience the sounds and ambience of the night time jungle.
Total of 16 Cottages, 2 persons per room. An extra bed is permitted.
At Junglemantra the emphasis is on minimum environmental impact in terms of operations and construction yet maximum beneficial environmental impact in terms of re-forestation by indigenous species, recycling of waste where possible and removal and disposal of inorganic waste as per Government recommendations.
It is our policy to provide training and employment opportunities to local villages thereby reducing the dependence on the forest resources. We also support the local village school with books and teaching aids. At Junglemantra, we believe in sustainable eco-tourism, where tourism is for the forest and its denizens.
Junglemantra, itself, undoubtedly has the best location in Bandhavgarh for wildlife lovers, birdwatchers and naturalists. Situated in the valley between the core forest and buffer zones of the National Park, with extensive private grounds (25 acres), Junglemantra offers an authentic safari experience.
In order to ensure that the construction of the resort did not disturb the animal corridors on the site- Shailin (Proprietor) camped on the site to research and plan the areas on which construction should take place.
Junglemantra is superbly located in 25 acres of mixed mature woodland on the banks of a perennial lake.
