Atacamadventure Wellness and Ecolodge is privately owned and a lot of thought has been put into creating a truly authentic experience for the guest. The lodging included in our de-luxe package is on a very exclusive basis and environment friendly – respecting the fragile ecosystem of the desert. The solar energy is used mainly for lightning and water used on our premises is treated and reused for irrigation of plants and trees. The architecture of the house follows the architectonic habits of the natives. The villa is composed out of a round centre with a dining room and social living room, fully fitted kitchen, where all kinds of delicacies can be prepared.

Two wings are parallel and connected to the central part. One of the wings offers 2 rooms comfortably and tastefully equipped, along with their own bathrooms. (One of the bathrooms has a Jacuzzi, the other a hydro massage cabin shower). The second wing consists out of a large bedroom with a king size bed and it’s own bathroom with a Jacuzzi. The purpose is to offer a unique experience with all the comfort guests require in a friendly, homely environment.

We operate all the year round. All of our trips are opened accordingly to the weather conditions. The Atacama Desert has over 330 sunny days & cloudless nights. Therefore, unless the Atacama Desert is affected by the Bolivian winter (usually December to April), we do not expect any inconveniences or difficulties for our trips to operate.

The de-luxe package consists of accommodation, excursions chosen by the guest, full board and drinks whilst exploring the Atacama desert and all transportation (from and to the airport of Calama). The trips are tailor-made for all of our customers, all age groups and physical conditions. It is possible to combine one day or half day journeys or expeditions, also with different activities (horseback riding, biking etc.) forming a package of services.

4 x 4 vehicles are used for majority of the expeditions. All the excursions include drinking water, a guide in the required language, transportation with driver, and meals are included on full day trips & volcano ascensions. Also on full day hiking & trekking trips, entrance fees to the archaeological sites and natural reserves are included.

Our team consists of a number of experienced, professional guides, who will put their heart and soul into leading you through the remote landscape of the Atacama Desert. Taking you to the vast space of the desert, the altiplano, hidden gorges in the Andes , and the high altitude volcanoes. Living in the extreme beauty of the desert made them fall in love with the nature of this extraordinary place. They are only too pleased to share every bit of knowledge and wealth of experience with our guests.

South America : Chile

The Lodge is located one and a half kilometres from the centre of the town of San Pedro in a peaceful location with stunning views of the volcanoes within the Andean range. The grounds are surrounded by carob trees and native chanar, offering peace and tranquillity.

The Lodge has a fully equipped kitchen in the centre of the house. There is a dedicated cook especially for the guests, who will be happy to prepare meals of their choice.

EXPEDITIONS

The excursions we mention below are demonstrating an idea about the vast possibilities that can be offered; creating a tailor-made package for our guests. As these excursions are not collective, the possibilities are unlimited. In our excursions we want to transmit our enthusiasm and passion, avoiding at the same time the traditional form of tourism. It is our task to give the deepest experience and vision of Atacama on our excursions independently from the length of your stay.

Hiking and Trekking

Las Cornisas: The first 40 minutes are a moderate climb to reach the ridge of the Salt range with impressive views of the surrounding formations, volcanoes and oasis. Continue a flat walk and descend the sandy dunes at the end.

Kari Gorge: Start at the lookout of the Salt range, with views of the Andes and the Salt flat. Walk through a dry river bed with impressive geological rock formations eroded by wind and water.

Journey to Kamur: Journey to the Heart of the Salt range, and observe the geological evolution of the rock formations and enjoy the spectacular sunset in the famous Moon valley.

Atacamenian Pathways: Meet the Atacamenian art and history, travelling on the antique pathways, admiring the changing face of the Atacama Desert in the gorges and lookouts, formed in the past centuries.

Mountaineering/Ascension of Volcanoes

Ascension of Mt Toco (5.600 masl): The volcano has an abandoned sulfur mine. This programme is suitable as acclimatization for more difficult mountains. Start at 5.100 m and walk up to the summit, at the top there are views of the nearby Bolivian lakes. (Duration: 1 -1.5 hrs; climbing route: Southern face; altitude difference: 500m).

Ascension of Mt Colorado (5.800 masl): Cone shaped mountain, known to be one of the sacred mountains of the natives. Start a hike at 4.800m, reaching the ridge of the mountain before the summit. (Snow expected in the time of Bolivian winter January – March; duration: 4 – 4.5 hrs; climbing route: Northern face; altitude difference: 1.000m).

Horseback Riding

Dunas de Chulacao: Visit the Salt mountain range west from the oasis of San Pedro, ride through the planes dividing the oases and the mountains until reaching the dunes of the mountain range with spectacular views. (Duration :2 – 2.5 hours approx.).

Pukara de Quitor: Riding North from the town of San Pedro, we will visit the Atacamenian defensive fortress built in the 12th Century whilst travelling through the green areas of the oasis itself. (Duration :2 – 2.5 hours approx.).

Classical Journeys

Archaeological Tour: Visit the town of San Pedro – The archaeological capital of Chile. Visit the Museum, the Village Church which is the second oldest in the Country. View the defensive Atacamenian fortress ‘Pukará de Quitor’. Aldea de Tulor, excavations of the oldest settlement in the oasis.

Valle de la Luna: Lookouts of the Salt range, Death Valley, geological formations of the Moon valley, reaching the central area of the Moon valley – the central Crater, waiting for the sunset…

Lagunas Altiplanicas and Salar de Atacama: Visit the town of Toconao with the handicraft shops and a traditional square, Andean town of Socaire, Lakes Miscanti, Meñiques of deep blue color. Explore the Chilean altiplano with abundant wildlife, observing birds on the lakes, sunset on the Chaxa Lake in the Atacama Salt flat.

Geyser Del Tatio and the Puritama hot springs: Visit the geothermic field, the highest in the world reaching 4.300m. In the early morning hours, pass through the impressive altiplanic landscape, and then take the opportunity of bathing in the hot springs of Puritama.

Foot Reflexology

Reflexology, also called zone therapy, is based on the notion that each body part is represented on the hands and feet and that pressing on specific areas on the hands or feet can have therapeutic effects in other parts of the body. Reflexology balance energy and enhance healing elsewhere in the body. foot reflexology can cleanse the body of toxins, increase circulation, assist in weight loss, and improve the health of organs throughout the body.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a bodywork that is specifically designed to relax muscles. By applying deep pressure to muscles and bones, by rubbing concurrently with the circulation towards the heart, Swedish massage purposefully enhances oxygen flow in blood and helps to rid toxins in the muscles.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles release. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles, increase the blood flow to the area being worked on which further accelerates the healing process. This increase in circulation and the relaxation of the muscles also aids in mental relaxation. Mental relaxation is key when a Therapist is attempting to work into deeper muscles of the body.
