The architecture of our hotel allows guests to enjoy comfort in this remote region. The design creates an aura of simplicity showcasing the unfathomable beauty of the nature.
The travesía to Cachi can start from our Hotel de Larache in the Chilean village of San Pedro de Atacama, or you may begin the travesía in the Argentine city Salta.
explora was founded to encourage a new way of travel in the remote regions of the Southern tip of South America. We love nature and enjoy liberty, we suggest a philosophy of travel born out of the desire to explore the natural and cultural environment of the remote. South America is one of the least-known areas in the world, as well as one of the least explored. It is a region open to our imagination, with much to discover: volcanoes, salt flats, 1000-year-old forests, lakes and rivers. At the same time South America offers a journey through history, as the cultures that originated here thousands of years ago have maintained their ways to this day.
Nature & Kind Factor
In our ongoing search of remote destinations, we focus our activities in places of unique and fragile beauty, where the few inhabitants in the area generally live in tiny villages. These communities carry on traditions that in many cases have been preserved for centuries.
When hiring, explora gives preference to people from local communities to be part of our team. While doing so has a significant impact on the local economy, our company also strives to balance these economic benefits with the respect and the conservation of the social and cultural traditions of the communities.
In 12 years of operation in Patagonia, we have learned as much from the descendents of early colonists as we have done from gauchos. In Atacama, we have discovered the rich traditions of the Atacamenian communities in San Pedro. Today our new challenge includes our integration into the Rapa Nui community on Easter Island as well as to the altiplanic villages in Bolivia and Argentina.
Our commitment not only reaches those local communities in which we operate, but given that the majority of our explorers come from countries around the world, we believe our social responsibility includes supporting foreign organizations year after year.
