Near everything and away from the world: Etnia hotel can be defined as such. Located in the center of Trancoso, 80Km from Porto Seguro, in the southern coast of the state of Bahia, the hotel was elected by Herbert Ypma, photographer and writer for Hip Hotels, as the best destination in the world for those seeking peace and quiet, as well as sophistication and simplicity. Everything has been thought about and put together with the purpose of thoroughly revitalizing guests, with exercises, massages, healthy diet and absolute tranquility.

Internationally known as an oasis in the middle of the jungle and for combining comfort with unique ethnic decoration, Etnia was elected one of Brazil’s four best hotels by the prestigious German publisher, Taschen, in the book “Great Escapes of the World”, which shows a selection of the 90 best hotels around the world. It has also been featured in Hip Hotels’ “Atlas”, in Taschen’s “Great Escapes South America”, in Condé Nast Johansen’s “The Americas – Recommended Hotels, Inns, Resorts & Spas” and was the winner of Elle’s chic shack awards 2007, besides setting special coverage in newspapers such as The Sunday Times and The New York Times, among others. Every detail, each item on display conveys a feeling of gathering of ethnics as if several pieces of the planet were there. The hotel owners take care of every detail themselves, from taking reservations to personally receiving guests, adding an atmosphere of intimacy to the experience.

At Etnia, service, care and ambience go beyond quantity and ostentations. Staying at this hotel is an experience in itself, in a universe of exclusivity and ostentation, as has been pointed out by the 2008 edition of the Guia 4 Rodas.

Surrounded by shady woods, the boutique hotel counts on its 8 bungalows decorated with different themes (Cottage, Morocco, Tribal, Mediterranean, Trancoso, Kyoto, Gipsy and Goa), with furniture brought from all sides of the world, fully equipped with air conditioning, internet access, TV, telephone, safe, Swedish pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets, balcony, walk-in closet and internal private garden. The hotel is located five minutes away from the lively Quadrado, Trancoso’s central square, where the village’s magic takes place.

A Swimming pool with bar and lounge, a 7000m2 garden, secured parking lot, access to the beach (15 minutes walking) and to the town (5 minutes walking), restaurant and boutique are part of the hotel’s structure. In each bungalow, a stained glass window facing a private garden makes the guests feel even more in touch with the local nature.

The gastronomy has a charm of its own. Breakfast is served by the pool, or on the bungalows’ balcony, and guests will find a range of homemade cakes, yogurts, jams, bread and so on. The restaurant brings a fusion menu of Mediterranean and local cuisines, with dishes such as the Kyoto (grilled fish with sesame seeds and soy sauce, with banana and nuts rice), the Morocco (Salmon hump with capers, rice and grilled vegetables) apart from homemade pasta such as the spinach and the feta cheese ravioli or the gnok, and several kinds of salad, all prepared by Lita, the hotels exclusive chef. Etnia also offer their guests three exclusive wines (merlot, Sparkling Brut and chardonnay), made at the renowned Vinicola Don Giovanni, located in the southern mountains of Bento Gonçalves(south of Brazil).

To complete the atmosphere there is also body care: the hotel has a massage room, a professional Watsu masseur (Californian technique which consists in water shiatsu) and Aqua Gym, led by the hotel’s personal trainer (free of charge) who is at guests’ disposal three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).

RESERVATION AND CANCELLATIONS’ POLICY

1. Rates

a) The rates display in folders and/or publicity are valid to the specified periods and can be changed for high season reasons or any special event, as well for rates flotation reasons.

b) The rates include breakfast, taxes and room service for 2 persons.


2. Payment

a) It is demanded 50% payment in advance of the total reservation amount
.
b) The balance must be paid until 48 hours before the check-in

c) All payments must be done by credit card or bank deposits, in a count that will be given by the hotel. The receipt must be sent by e-mail or fax +55 73 3668 1137, extension 209, to speed up the identification of the guest.


3. Returns and cancellations

a) The returns and cancellations requests, must be written and sent to the hotel’s reservation department by e-mail: etniabrasil@etniabrasil.com.br or by fax: +55 73 3668 1137, extension 209.

b) The cancellation fee will be charged as shown below:


LOW SEASON
March 1st to Nov 30th (except for holidays)

* Until 7 days before check-in: 10% of the reservation’s total amount

* 7 days before check-in until the check-in day: 50% of the reservation’s total amount


HIGH SEASON
December 1st to February 28th and holidays

* Until 15 days before check-in: 10% of the reservation’s total amount

* 15 days before check-in until 7 days before the check-in day: 50% the reservation’s total amount

* 07 days before check-in until the check-in day: 100% the reservation’s total amount


Special Packages
New Year’s, Carnival, Easter Vacation:

* Until 30 days before check-in: 10% of the reservation’s total amount

* 30 Days before check-in until 15 days before the check-in day: 50% the reservation’s total
amount

* 15 Days before check-in until the check-in day: 100% the reservation’s total amount


In case of "no show" 100% of the reservation’s total amount will be charged or the amount that had been already paid.


The user’s reservation can be replaced by another guest, in the same conditions, on the same period..
