Bush Adventures - Company Overview
At Bush Adventures we invite you to join us for an adventure. An adventure designed for you to experience the authentic essence of Kenya’s most independent people and to live with them today as they have lived for generations.
We organise exciting itineraries to beautiful wilderness locations in small, exclusive groups where you will live and learn with the indigenous Maasai people in a way that brings a true exchange of ideas. Our trips are fun, exciting and occasionally challenging. They will take you to remote areas where you will spend your days outdoors in landscapes not touched by the modern world, and where essential comforts are all catered for, in our elegant luxury camp. Bush Adventures, established in 2009, currently offers 4, 7 and 12 day expeditions to northern Kenya, to train with Maasai Warriors and enjoy an adventure that will change the way you experience life. Nature & Kind Factor
- We are part of the local community and work with it: one of our founders comes from the area, as do almost all our employees. We have worked to repair the roads, we are supporting local schools by finding volunteer teachers, whenever possible we source products locally. We provide security in the area, as well as emergency help. We send our staff out with the other local warriors when the community requires them to patrol the area.
- We are in a very fragile ecosystem: we minimize our impact on it and we work to actively protect it. We do all our activities on foot, using a motorvehicle only for supplies and emergencies. We have max 8 guests, no electricity, no running water. For all camp uses except drinking, we get water from the nearby river, collecting it in buckets then filtering it by hand and sterilizing it with chlorine, and we minimize its usage for both guests and staff. In the rainy season we put thorny branches in the ditches excavated by erosion, thus slowing the flow of silt and the deepening of the erosion. We use as little firewood as possible, and only pick dead branches- never cutting live trees or branches. This in fact is standard Maasai practice in the area, and it has allowed it to retain beautiful big trees, unlike the neighboring areas inhabited by communities that have different practices. We recycle our waste, composting organic waste and using it as fertilizer. We minimize the amount of waste produced by rbuying in bulk and ecycling containers whenever feasible.
